Volkswagen has been named Best New Base Vehicle at the Owner Satisfaction Awards 2025.
The Owner Satisfaction Awards, organised in partnership with the Camping and Caravanning Club, draws on votes and feedback from Practical Motorhome readers and Camping and Caravanning Club members. These awards provide valuable insight into the motorhome market and how motorhomers have fared when buying and using their ‘vans. They highlight top manufacturers, standout dealers, leading base vehicles, and the finest converters.
Volkswagen, which has long been recognised for producing some of the best vans for camper conversions, secured the prestigious title with an impressive 92.7% score. In the Best New Base Vehicle category, Volkswagen was closely followed by Mercedes, who scored 90.5%, as well as Ford (86.1%) and Fiat (83.8%), totals which were high enough to secure Gold Awards for each base vehicle.
Two Silver Awards were also won, with Peugeot narrowly beating Citroën with a score of 78.1% and 78% achieved respectively.
Volkswagen also excelled in other categories, earning a Gold Award for Best Pre-Owned Base Vehicle with 87.40%, narrowly missing out on the top spot which Mercedes won with 87.90%. Additionally, Volkswagen received Silver in the Best Van Converter – Manufacturer (New and Used) category, scoring 81.20%.
Given Volkswagen’s reputation for producing sought-after base vehicles for multiple brands – along with their own popular ranges of VW campervans – the brand’s success at the Owner Satisfaction Awards 2025 comes as no surprise.
