One of the best things about motorhome touring in winter is that the roads are quieter and the campsites cheaper than in the height of summer. Now is the time to visit renowned beauty spots that are normally rammed with tourists. We’ve selected 10 of our favourite campsites that are open all year round, highlighting great winter walks, must-not-miss events and places to go.
1 – Riverside Caravan Park
Visit the Lake District all year round, because it is beautiful in all seasons. Enjoy the spectacular views without the crowds and base yourself at the adults-only Riverside Caravan Park in Millhouse, Cumbria, to be close to many trails, stunning locations and the charming towns that pepper this area.
2 – Somers Wood Caravan Park
Heading to the NEC show in Birmingham? Stop at Somers Wood Caravan Park in Meriden, North Warwickshire, a great adults-only site that’s open all year. Practical Motorhome readers rate Somers Wood highly enough to vote it into our Top 100 Sites Guide each year. The site is just a 10-minute drive from the exhibition centre, where you can ogle new motorhomes or stock up on your favourite camping accessories during the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show towards the end of February each year.
