The purchase of 12 acres of land behind its main sales branch at Brent Knoll, Somerset, has given West Country Motorhomes the chance to build extensive new workshop facilities, also taking on five more members of staff.
The firm, which in 2019 celebrated 40 years in business as a specialist motorhome retailer, actually bought the land nearly a decade ago.
Sales director Steve Taylor says: “There are two new workshops – a four-bay and a seven-bay – making 11 bays in total. The final two are still being constructed. These will house our team of mechanics and two new vehicle lifts.”
“As everyone knows, motorhome sales have been through the roof since Covid, and we felt that now was the right time to invest back into the company. The total investment is well over £1 million, but we feel it is money well spent.”
“To be able to have all of our workshop staff on the same site will improve communication and quality. It also provides our valued staff with a brand new facility to work in.”
Steve adds that the recent development has allowed the company to close its original site, some six miles further north up the A38, where it was founded, and which, until recently, was being used to prepare vehicles for sale.
He concludes: “Having only developed four of the 12 acres so far, we definitely have plenty of land for further expansion. So, watch this space!”
The dealer has the franchises for new motorhomes from key UK manufacturers Auto-Sleepers, Auto-Trail, Bailey, Elddis and Swift, as well as its own special edition Sunseeker models.
