The best motorhome site in North-West England

A big congratulations goes to our Regional Winner for the North West, Green Acres Caravan Park! It’s all the more impressive as this is the second consecutive year that the site has claimed top spot, with guests impressed by the excellent facilities and peaceful setting on offer at the adults-only site. Hardstanding pitches come with electric hook-up, and guests can choose from spacious standard or fully serviced pitches.

The facilities proved particularly popular with visitors. This includes Platinum Loo of the Year award-winning toilets, where luxurious wet rooms include underfloor heating, modern toilets and accessible amenities. For any unexpected wet days during your stay, the site has a sports hall and games room, including badminton courts, board games, table tennis and a pool table.

Guests who are touring with pets will enjoy walking their four-legged friends in the picturesque woodland setting of the dog walk and exercise area too.

Offsite, visitors will be able to take a trip to Carlisle, which is only 4.5 miles away, where the cathedral and castle can be explored. Other sights include the Lake District and the North Pennines, which are both less than an hour’s drive away.

Set against the backdrop of the Lake District, the pitches at Burns Farm are all fully serviced and hardstanding. Touring guests can use the award-winning facilities, which include a sustainably heated shower block, accessible bathrooms and a laundry area.

The site is home to a dog walk, a dog- and bike-wash, and a shop. A seasonal wood-fired pizza van visits the site on Saturdays, while the buzzing town of Keswick is only three miles down the road. New for 2024 are 14 luxury cabins, along with glamping bell tents. Burns Farm itself is one of the Lake District’s oldest working farms.

This popular campsite is tucked away just a mile from Ullswater and a 15-minute walk from Pooley Bridge. The family-run Hillcroft Park hosts touring vehicles on fully serviced pitches in its Buttermere Touring Field, which boasts views across to Ullswater.

The site shop sells essentials, along with local produce and barbecues. The park is also home to a play area, a doggy shower and a games room. Venturing offsite, visitors can reach a good selection of local walking and cycling routes, including the Ullswater Way.
