Two new refrigeration models from Italian manufacturer Vitifrigo were among the range of thermostatically controlled 12/24V DC compressor fridges on show at the Penguin Refrigeration stand at the February NEC Show.

The SLIM09i and C51 are two new models promoted for the motorhome market although suitable in some circumstances for caravans. The USP here is their reduction in weight and efficient cooling technology.

With a width of just 41.7cm, the SLIM09i fridge freezer (£1,243.79) is designed for panel vans, as space can be at a premium in even the best campervans. It has a 90-litre capacity and a given the unit’s compact size, a large freezer of 10 litres. The larger freezer capacity is due to the fact that the remote compressor can be kept outside the fridge cabinet.

The low height C51 fridge (£797.70 – £1,180.18) is targeted at small campervans such as VW T4, VW T5, VW T6 or Ford Transits. It’s a 51 litre 12 volt (or 24V) DC compressor fridge popular for small conversions and suitable for running from solar power.

Vitifrigo’s export manager said that the Nano NextGen Compressor is revolutionising the range, improving efficiency by 44%, and being 67% lighter and 40% smaller than previous models. They managed to cut the weight of the SLIM09i from 22kg to 13kg – a big saving in weight.

As well as the Vitifrigo refrigerators, visitors to the February NEC Show are also able to see Coachman unveil its first ever van conversions, while Roller Team also showcasing its Livingstone range of campervans too.
