When it comes to food storage, it’s worth investing in something efficient and long-lasting, especially if you tour abroad in warmer climates. The ever-reliable Dometic has slashed the price of their popular CoolFreeze Compressor Cooler, which comes in 18, 21 and 31 litre models, and runs on 12V/24V power. Offering refrigeration and freezing as low as -18°C, the cooler has a digital temperature display and uses compressor cooling technology, so it isn’t affected by the external temperature. It’s robust and weighs 9.5kg, so it may not be suitable if you need something very portable.
We inevitably forget something when we set off on tour, and it’s often an essential kitchen item. Sets like this one are great for making sure you can make your morning egg or grill up a storm. Complete with tongs, a spatula, serving spoon, bottle opener, vegetable peeler, knife, cutting board and pair of scissors, the set is made from stainless steel with sturdy, comfortable handles. The water resistant case has a mesh pocket for each utensil and neatly zips up.
One of our long-standing favourite kitchen accessories is this hand-held espresso machine from WACACO. It weighs just 336g and doesn’t require batteries or power, so the nifty 6.14 inch coffee maker can be taken on walks or kept in your motorhome. We love this model because it’s compatible with capsules (Nespresso or equivalent) as well as ground coffee. You just need to add hot water to the built-in 80 ml chamber and use the hand-operated pump button and you’ll have smooth and creamy espresso in seconds. There’s even a built-in cup!
Great for barbecues and fry ups, this 13kg gas-powered cooker features a 48 x 26 cm grill surface with an integrated flame cover. For a small barbecue, the cast iron surface offers efficient and well-designed cooking, and the aluminium lid – which has a built-in thermometer – helps speed things up and keep your surroundings safe. It comes pre-assembled, complete with a dishwasher-safe, removable drip tray. The system is lit with piezo ignition so there’s no need for matches and the heat is dial-controlled.
If you want to keep your kitchen kit to a minimum, this set of stainless steel travel utensils are a great addition. Complete with a fork, knife and spoon, the set is housed in a handy, rigid case that clips closed. The cutlery handles slot nicely together and the case is designed with space-saving in mind. They’re not only great for keeping in your motorhome, but also for taking with you on picnics or when you’re out and about to save on disposable cutlery.
Look no further for the perfect motorhome mug – Stanley has created it. The ever-popular adventure gear company designed their Legendary Camp Mug with comfort and utility in mind, without compromising on aesthetics. Double-wall vacuum insulation keeps 0.35L of liquids hot for 1.5 hours or cold for 15 hours with ice. The high-quality stainless steel cup paired with a press-fit Tritan lid completes the leak-proof, easy-sip design. You can choose from 5 colours, each one as robust and rust-proof as the last!
