‘Budget’ motorhomes are big business in Britain at the moment, so it’s not surprising that the Hymer Group wants a slice of the action. Two of the Group’s biggest-hitting brands, Hymer and Dethleffs, will be marketing their budget brands in the UK for 2013.

Visitors to the hugely

successful Motorhome and Caravan Show, held recently at Birmingham’s

National Exhibition Centre, had a chance to see the UK launch of Hymer’s Carado and Dethleffs’ Sunlight, which are two of Europe’s biggest budget brands.

Carado and Sunlight motorhomes are manufactured in the same factory, located in Neustadt in eastern Germany, by a firm called Capron,

which is a joint venture between Hymer and Dethleffs.

Both brands offer low-profile motorhomes with drop-down beds, a class of motorhome that isn’t currently available from any UK manufacturer.

Newly signed up Carado dealerships

include Heart of England Motorhomes in Northamptonshire and Kimberley Caravans in County Durham. Hymer’s Paul Kershaw explained to Practical Motorhome‘s market expert Nick Harding that he is looking to appoint new Carado dealers (full story: January 2013 edition of Practical Motorhome).

Dethleff’s Sunlight brand pulled out of the UK market in 2009, but Sunlight motorhomes have been sold as dealer specials here under the Eurostyle badge,

stocked exclusively by Lowdhams.

Now that the Sunlight brand is being brought back to the UK, Lowdhams will

be phasing out Eurostyles and selling Sunlight-badged motorhomes

instead. The full list of Sunlight dealers in the UK can be found here.
