Minehead Town Council is appealing to Somerset County Council to address the free overnight parking at West Quay.

Motorhome and camper van owners are taking advantage of several spaces that are free between 6pm and 8am for overnight stops along the town’s seafront, which also has the added attraction of a local pub and 24-hour opening public convenience.

The convenience is being used for emptying WC cassettes and for filling fresh water tanks via a hose from the taps. Councillors, who say there should be a charge for the parking and the use of the facilities, are calling for clearer signage or a traffic regulation order to prevent overnight parking by motorhomes. The area is flagged up on the Park4night website.
