For four years in a row now, Back of Beyond has been the Regional Winner in our Top 100 Sites Guide, and can lay claim to being the best motorhome site in Dorset.
It’s easy to see why. Sitting in 30 acres of glorious countryside, it’s a site that not only offers a tranquil stay where the rigours of everyday life can be escaped, but also provides an ideally situated spot for exploring Dorset’s many delights.
Onsite, the facilities include four heated toilet and shower blocks (with power-showers), and there’s also a shop and dog-wash. From reception, guests have the option of hiring both fire pits and barbecues, and food vendors with a variety of dishes on offer visit too.
Wildlife and flowers are encouraged to prosper throughout – the park has two lakes, with the area around both designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, due to the rare species that reside there.
A woodland walk allows visitors to take in the beauty of the site, while the New Forest National Park is only a short drive away. Other attractions in the surrounding area include Bournemouth, Southampton, Stonehenge and Winchester.
There are also a number of fishing spots, which include the Moors River, but do note a licence is needed.
The onsite Monty’s Bar is having wood-burning stoves added for 2023, while an access bridge which allows guests to reach the Castleman Trailway has been added. The installation of new hedging will also provide enhanced privacy for pitches too.

Bagwell Farm is a relaxing park that sits alongside the Jurassic Coast. As well as providing direct access to the South West Coast Path, the Dorset motorhome site is ideally situated for visiting nearby Weymouth.
There are good facilities on offer, including a shop, family bathrooms, an off-licence, accessible wet rooms, a dog-walk and a dog-wash. New washers and dryers have recently been installed in the laundry room too.
Between April and November, The Red Barn bar and restaurant is open for guests.
A play area, which includes a sandpit, swings and a slide, will keep the children entertained, and they can also meet the resident donkeys and goats.
Monkton Wyld Holiday Park

Monkton Wyld Holiday Park is situated in 25 acres of stunning grounds in Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It’s a characterful and charming campsite that, thanks to its location, offers a great base for exploring the county, with Lyme Regis and Charmouth both three miles away.
Award-winning washroom facilities are provided at the site, which also holds a Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award.
Weekly food vans stop by, while there are two dog-walks on offer; the woodland trail is lit with fairy lights too, ideal for evening strolls.
The park has upgraded its free Wi-Fi for the 2023 season too.
South Lytchett Manor

Sitting in 20 acres of peaceful parkland, South Lytchett Manor offers guests a beautiful setting for their tour.
Site facilities include a shop which offers local produce, three heated amenity blocks, a dog-wash and a 2.5-acre dog-walking field, while pastries and bread are served daily at the bakery. During the high season, external caterers also visit.
Exploration of the surrounding area is simplified, thanks to the two buses that can be caught from the site’s entrance – these head along the Jurassic Coach to Weymouth, as well as to Swanage and Poole.
Guests can hire bikes from reception too, while a village pub is only 10 minutes away.
Springfield Touring Park

Sitting only 1.5 miles from Wimborne Minster in the Stour Valley, Springfield Touring Park provides guests with an ideal location for exploring the sights of Dorset.
There will be plenty to see and do in the vicinity, with Corfe Castle and the New Forest providing great days out, while Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are all nearby.
The park itself is set in 3.5 acres of mature trees, and offers spacious pitches and a play area for under-12s.
For 2023, the shower block has had motion-triggered lighting added, while the electric hook-up points have also been upgraded.
