Wenning ways
To explore the best of the Yorkshire Dales, the Forest of Bowland and more, pitch up at Riverside Caravan Park, which straddles the picturesque River Wenning’s banks. There’s waterside walks aplenty, as well as fishing in the river and the campsite’s private lake. The river’s calmer stretchers are perfect for paddling, too.
Peace on the Thames
Sitting beside the River Thames, Hurley Riverside Park benefits from having a pretty, private riverfront area, complete with a slipway for launching small boats and canoes. Alternatively, for those who might prefer a rather more sedate expedition, why not take a picnic down to the riverside and simply enjoy watching the waters flow by?
West country retreat
For a tranquil, adults-only retreat, try Waterrow Touring Park, close to the Somerset/Devon border. On-site you’ll find it easy to enjoy nature, with private woodland and riverside walks and plenty more walking paths through the nearby countryside, on way marked paths and lanes.
Canals of central Scotland
The Wheel Caravan Park & Campsite offers plenty of towpath walking opportunities right on its doorstep. It takes just five to 10 minutes on foot to reach the Falkirk Wheel, a remarkable piece of engineering connecting the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal.
Best of the Beacons
You can enjoy all that the stunning Brecon Beacons have to offer from Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park, including the peaceful Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal, which borders the site’s camping field.
Aire Valley adventures
Situated just off the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Niffany Farm Caravan and Camping is surrounded by beautiful scenery and has lots of opportunities for walking, both along the towpath and in the nearby Yorkshire Dales.
Pitch and paddle on the Broads
Explore the Norfolk Broads from Three Rivers Pitch & Paddle, a tranquil campsite surrounded by water. Bring your own waterspouts equipment, or hire canoes, paddle boards and kayaks on-site. There’s a private jetty on the lovely River Waveney, and you can choose from pitches with scenic river and marsh views.
North-eastern exploring
Walkmill Campsite is set in more than 10 acres of beautiful Northumberland countryside and woodland, by the River er Coquet, a few miles from the beautiful beaches of the Coast and Castles cycle route. Although there’s no access to the river from the site, the walk into nearby Warkworth takes in a lovely stretch of riverside pathway.
Unspoilt riverside
Riverside Caravan Park Hawick is in a beautiful waterside location in the Scottish Borders. With free on-site fishing in the beautiful River Teviot, which skirts the park, and the nearby attractions of Jedburgh Abbey, Melrose and Galashiels, this is a great place to enjoy a relaxing break.
Fishing on the Forth
With the River Forth running past Cobleland Campsite and the stunning scenery of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and The Trossachs on your doorstep, you really can’t get much closer to the beauties of nature. There is fishing on-site, as well as elsewhere on the river and in the Forest Park.
