Great news for motorcaravanners from Fylde Council, which has announced that it’s proposing to create five aire-style locations.

Plans are currently underway to develop six existing car parks in the Lytham-St-Anne’s area (North Beach, North Promenade, St Annes Swimming Pool; Fairhaven Road; St Paul’s Avenue and Stanner Bank) to allow motorhomes to park for up to three nights.

An overnight stay will cost £5, and – like many Continental aires – facilities will be limited: outdoor cooking and the dumping of rubbish will be prohibited.

Councillor Albert Pounder said of the initiative: “Without a doubt, motorcaravanners are the sort of prosperous and well-behaved visitors that we want in Fylde. This is a new and growing market in which we can be ahead of our competitor resorts.” It’s thought that, if successful, the scheme could extend to Blackpool and Wyre.
