Dreamer has unveiled its new City Camp camper van at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC this week – although its design has already changed from what was first announced.

The show is a great opportunity to find the biggest names all in one place, allowing visitors to browse the best campervans from the leading brands and converters.

The French company, part of Groupe Rapido (find out more in our best motorhome manufacturers guide), is also exhibiting its revised Cap Land model at the February NEC Show, based on a long wheelbase Ford Transit Custom.

The City Camp, the first model in the company’s new City by Dreamer range, includes a side kitchen unit that was to have been removable. That plan has now been abandoned to make the kitchen easier to use.

It now features a one-burner hob above a slide-out Dometic coolbox. There is, however, a portable hob fitted as standard that has its own storage cupboard in the back of the van.

Looking inside the City Camp

As standard the City Camp, also based on a Ford Transit Custom, features a rear bench with three travel seats that you move forward and fold down to make the bed. But as an alternative option you can have four individual seats arranged in two rows. The bed then folds over these when they are folded down.

The van also includes an outdoor dining set that fits into a pouch on the inside of the tailgate door, while the table can be fitted to the outside of the van as well.

The updated Cap Land includes a new larger pedestal table and an electronically convertible lower bed.

Although the models on show are both left hand drive models, Dreamer insists the layouts will remain unchanged in right hand drive versions.

As well as the two Dreamer models making their debut, visitors to the show got to see Project Yonder unveil its 4×4 Mercedes Sprinter-based Freedom 4x, a ‘van ideal for offgrid trips.
