If you’re looking for a more environmentally friendly way to tour without compromising on the mod cons, CampervanCo’s new hybrid Ford Transit Custom Evolution Eco Camper model might be what you’ve been waiting for. The design was showcased at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show in February of this year and is currently on its way to being launched.

The Scottish company responsible for the cutting-edge electric campervan has championed sustainability since its conception in 2006. More recently, they have pioneered hybrid technology in their campervans, launching full hybrid and tribrid models in 2016. CEO Gary Hayes stated that CampervanCo aims “to be entirely emissions-free by 2025.”

Their new Ford-base PHEV model will deliver up to 26 miles (42km) of electric range on one charge, complimented by a 1 litre Eco Boost range extender engine. You can also enjoy all-electric camping, thanks to the 1000W solar panels and 250Ah leisure battery.

With prices starting at £76,000, the Eco Camper features the classic side kitchen with folding bench-bed as well as a pop up roof bed, bringing the sleeping capacity to 4. The modular kitchen units are removable and additional seats can be bought for day-to-day use. The base model includes an elevating roof, induction hobs and enhanced insulation for optimised temperature regulation. Among the optional accessories are a hot water dispenser, wireless phone charging, slow cooker, coffee machine and even built-in WiFi.
