Camping du Letty, White Sea, Brittany

The location of Camping du Letty, on the Brittany coast, with a sandy beach and the White Sea only metres away, is just part of this site’s appeal.

The peaceful 11-hectare woodland makes this a haven for wildlife, but there’s also a water park, with activities that will appeal to families, a leisure park, and a spa, complete with private whirlpool baths and a professional massage service. There’s everything here for a fantastic stay.

Camping Isle Verte, Saumur, Loire

Stay in the heart of the Loire region at Camping Isle Verte, where you can enjoy local cuisine in the on-site restaurant, including a wide selection of the area’s famous wines. Explore the Troglodyte caves, just down the road, or take a leisurely river cruise. With the magnificent Château de Montsoreau only a 10-minute walk away, and the historic town of Saumur a 15-minute drive, there’s also plenty to please the culture vultures.

Take a break in the centre of Alsace, around 40 minutes from historic Colmar, on the wooded Camping Wattwiller site, which has everything you would expect from a Huttopia venue – great facilities, large, shaded pitches and much more. There are daily deliveries from the village bakery, as well as a terrace and food court, and a heated outdoor pool, all of which makes this site a really comfortable home from home.

The Ile de Ré on France’s wild western coast is a hugely popular holiday destination for the French. Join them on the Côte Sauvage for a break full of sun, sea and sand. Stay at Huttopia Côte Sauvage, where there are pitches just 20m from the white, sandy beach. This large, shaded campsite is about as close as you can get to camping on the beach itself, and has great facilities to go with its splendid location.

Camping Les Pêcheurs is a wonderful riverside campsite in Franche-Comté, on the edge of the Jura, an area that is famously dotted with lakes, waterfalls, caves, forests, peatlands and rivers. The site itself is located in the pretty village of Pont-de-Poitte, with the charming River Ain running alongside. The pitches are generous and shaded at this well-established park, with plenty of space for youngsters to play and a riverside area for picnics.

Le Coin Tranquille, Grenoble

The Le Coin Tranquille campsite is a foodie’s dream, nestling in the hills of the Isère between Lyon and Chambéry, an hour from Grenoble, and is family owned and operated. This isn’t a run-of-the-mill on-site restaurant: as well as hearty meals to ready you for hiking in the hills, there are fine gourmet regional specialities to enjoy. There’s plenty for families, too, including evening entertainment, an outdoor pool and a sports field.

As far as riverside touring parks go, Camping Huttopia Gorges du Tarn seems to have it all!

Boasting a stunning natural layout, the site offers visitors direct access to a calm stretch of the picturesque River Tarn, making this the ideal location for swimming, fishing and canoeing.

Guests can go for a swim in the heated pool, or relax with a drink at the Café-Comptoir. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, too.

For the perfect start to the day, fresh bread and pastries can be bought from the local bakery.

Lying on the edge of the stunning Cévennes National Park, with its fantastic gorges, unspoilt countryside and panoramic views, there’s plenty to discover in the surrounding area, too, with activities including hiking, white-water kayaking and caving.

At Camping Nature Parc L’Ardéchois, you are based in the very heart of the Ardèche Gorges, a natural wonder best explored on foot. The campsite is on the banks of the river and offers a great range of pitches; some even have hammocks! Add to that fantastic facilities, which include a spectacular heated pool, play areas for children, a restaurant and a wellness centre.

Pitch up just 12km from the beautiful Côte d’Azur, near glamorous Cannes and Saint Tropez, and sandy beaches aplenty, when you stay at Camping Leï Suves. This attractive site has pitches nestling in trees and shrubs that provide plenty of shade. It offers a restaurant, a shop, a large swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, and live entertainment in the high season. There’s plenty to do on site and even more in the area, not to mention the typically French pétanque courts.
