Verdict
This motorhome compares well with many American RVs in terms of the scale and number of ‘toys’ on board, but it is also very different. It is more economical to drive, better winterised and has a different, chic European personality to it. The layout feels functional and the uncompromising build quality, specification and attention to detail would be very hard to match. There’s little to fault in this motorhome. If you’re a wealthy buyer with a desire for a large-but-not-silly-sized luxury motorhome, you’d love this Concorde.

This, unquestionably, is luxury. Concorde is one of Europe’s most respected manufacturers when it comes to A-class motorhomes, consistently producing some of the best-built ‘vans around.
This top end, four-berth A-class, the Concorde Charisma II 890M, only goes to strengthen that reputation. Floorplan highlights include two facing bench seats in the dining area and a large, island bed in the rear bedroom. Luxury like this does not come cheap, however – basic models cost from £101,000, but can reach £137,000 with optional extras.
Living
On board, the impression is one of sheer quality and luxury. Cream leather, subtly bevelled warm cherrywood, delicately designed Roman blinds and just enough glass and mirror detail to mark it out as special, but tasteful.
The inward-facing sofas are very comfortable with good support. The clever multi-position table is large enough for four to dine, with plenty of room, and also acts as a drinks table when the cab seats are swivelled.
All in all, this is a ‘decadent’ lounge. The lighting would be a joy by day or night: the panoramic windows and Heki rooflights are complemented by concertina blinds and spotlighting. A satellite system and LCD TV are fitted as standard.
Kitchen
The kitchen is ideally placed by the entrance door for unloading shopping and for serving to the dining table.
We loved the varied and extensive storage space with its clever fitments. Details abound such as towel rail, well-positioned sockets and superb lighting. The latest fridge/freezer, gas oven and grill tower unit is complemented by an electric combination microwave under the hob and a powerful, ceiling-mounted, thermostatically controlled extractor fan.
The stylish Corisan one-piece worktop/sink-drainer will be practical and hardwearing, but offers only average worktop space. It’s a great kitchen, though, and we were even excited about the bin, which has separate recycling sections.
Washroom
The washroom can be partitioned from kitchen, bedroom, or both, or left open to allow a clear passage to the rear – perfect. We simply could not fault this area, especially the vanity/basin area with better storage, lighting and mirrors than most homes. The separate corner shower cubicle and china-bowl marine toilet are opposite.
Beds
The star here is the queen-sized island bed, with a Lattoflex/Carawinx system. We discovered extensive clothes storage space with wardrobes for hanging clothes on either side of the bed.
There are hosts of thoughtful details, too, such as shelves for books, reading lights, a padded platform to assist getting in or out of bed, and a dedicated TV spot.
With a double, drop-down bed above the cab this is a four-berth ‘van – but it has only three belted travel seats.
Storage
The huge rear garage is heated, lit and fully insulated, with checker-plate flooring, mounting points and a good 200kg weight allowance.
Further forward a vast full-width locker in the double floor can swallow all kinds of leisure or sporting equipment. Really practical details are everywhere, such as the reels of hose and cable in their own locker, and a drain tray for wet footwear in a locker by the entrance door. Roof bars and a ladder are fitted.
There is a host of practical and inventive internal storage areas with thoughtful nooks and crannies everywhere.
