Bürstner completely overhauled its line-up for 2026. Out went some very long-running names such as Lyseo and in came some very new ones.

The latter included the innovative Habiton 6, a Mercedes-based campervan which I reviewed earlier this year following a visit to TMD Motorhomes near Redditch. But the new low-profile Signature range, which I saw at the same time, is just as innovative.

In fact, we named the Bürstner Signature SFT7.5 the most innovative motorhome at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2026, as well as a highly commended contender in our best motorhome with an island bed category.

The idea behind the Signature range is that you can easily adapt it – to create your own signature, as it were. On my SFT7.5 test model, for example, you have a choice of five different decals. Then inside you have a choice of 14 different colours for the back cushions, and eight for the base cushions. All of this is at no extra cost. So comments in this review about interior styling seem a bit superfluous.

Still, there are some common elements. The SFT7.5 has an island bed at the rear, and a standard Fiat cab with automatic transmission as standard and plush branded captain’s seats at the front. But it’s what happens in the middle that is perhaps of most interest.

Lounge in the Signature SFT7.5

At first glance, the front lounge looks like another popular parallel-settee layout with an extra cushion at the back. This makes up one travel seat.

But, as an optional extra, you can have a settee that swings out so that when you need to move off you have two forward-facing, fully belted travel seats. (The wall behind this seat has space for the best motorhome TV to go.)

On top of that, not only does the pedestal table fold up to give you better access to and from the cab, but rails in the floor mean you have a much wider range of options about where to site it. It’s a solid table wherever you put it.

Strip lights and LEDs under the drop-down bed allow for extra illumination at night, but surprisingly there’s no sunroof as standard in this ’van. Nor are there any reading lights by the cab seats.

The side kitchen is also rather flexible. It initially looks minimalist, but you lift off a chopping board to reveal the sink, open up an extension to the left which partly blocks the door, and then slide out the glass cover of the two-burner hob to reveal yet more usable workspace – as long as you manage to position the far end correctly on the ledge opposite.

If you are looking for a motorhome with an oven, it isn’t even available as an optional motorhome upgrade. But the fridge is a drawer fridge. It makes that all-important triangle between sink, fridge and hob, that domestic kitchen designers like to keep small, virtually non-existent here.

In fact, this kitchen has the feel of a stylish domestic kitchen, particularly when you discover that at the touch of a button a shelving unit rises up between the door to the bedroom and the wall to separate off the bedroom entirely (an idea employed by fellow EHG brand Niesmann + Bischoff).

The washroom opposite the kitchen is also unusual in that the partition here slides forward and back, instead of swinging. It’s locked into position.

Sleeping in the Signature SFT7.5

The bed at the rear is an island bed but positioned slightly to one side. This creates more of a gangway to get to the single mirrored wardrobe, but, because the bed is quite high and Bürstner has chosen to fill the other side with surprisingly shallow compartments, whoever sleeps on the offside faces quite a climb every night.

The SFT7.5 is so named because, unlike the otherwise identical SFT7.4, it includes a sizeable drop-down bed over the front lounge.

Storage in the SFT7.5

Along with the wardrobe, the bedroom includes three overhead lockers down the side, two at the back, and three drawers under the bed – that’s why it’s high.

There’s not quite so much storage up front because of all the moving parts. But the kitchen includes two drawers above and below the fridge and an overhead locker in addition to the rising shelf.

There’s some open shelving and a cupboard in the washroom, while there is also a large garage outside.

Alternatives to consider

How about the Pilote Atlas A690GJ? It comes with rugged styling and a panel at the back that can be used to make the two good-sized beds at the back into a bed which is almost a double.

You could take a look at the Swift Trekker 584, a motorhome which comes with fixed single beds at the rear instead, as well as a good level of kit.
