Special anniversary models seem to be popping up all over the place at the moment. You might not think buyers would be swayed by such milestones, but the fact there are so many of them suggests otherwise.

This year, Slovenian manufacturer Adria has gone down the anniversary route, it being 60 years since what was then called IMW produced the Adria 375, its first caravan.

In terms of models, the celebration is limited, as only three top-selling models are receiving the special anniversary treatment, but there is something for those who are after a campervan or motorhome, with one campervan and two low-profiles included.

The Matrix 670 SL, a 7.49m-long four-berth motorhome with fixed single beds, is one of them. As a 60 Year model, the Adria Matrix 670 SL 60 Year Edition has an exclusive spec list and is just over £4000 cheaper than the Supreme version of the same vehicle. So is this special edition worth considering?

The cab and lounge in the Adria Matrix 670 SL 60 Year Edition

It certainly looks the part. On the outside, those anniversary goodies include alloy wheels that blend with the silver sides, a roll-out awning, and a window on the hab door. When it comes to the size of motorhome, it has a 7.49m and a width of 2.30m

In the cab, features to make your trip easier include automatic transmission fitted as standard, a media and sat-nav pack and steering wheel controls.

The cab area

Little extras that make this a truly all-year-round ’van bring you Truma Combi 6E heating and an insulated and heated waste-water tank, handy if you’re not planning on winterising the motorhome.

With standard MTPLM for the van (3500kg), you only get three travel seats, so if you have the right driving licence to drive the motorhome, you might be inclined to upgrade to a 3650kg chassis and get the same number of seats as the number of berths this motorhome carries.

That will also obviously give you an extra 150kg of payload, which is not to be sniffed at here, because the standard payload of 249kg (once you include the All Inclusive Pack that all UK Adria models come with) is perhaps a little tight for four. You can get up to speed with exactly what payload is and why it matters in our guide to motorhome weights.

The lounge
Swivel the cab seats to make use of the table in the lounge

You get exclusive upholstery with these anniversary editions, and that adds to what is already an airy lounge. Large scatter cushions in a ‘60’ pattern remind you what this is all about.

The wood-effect table (another 60 Year touch) is large enough to seat four, in the cab seats, the L-shaped dinette and the side settee. Striplights under the drop-down bed and lockers keep things bright at night.

The kitchen in the Adria Matrix 670 SL 60 Year Edition

The side kitchen has a three-burner hob with an extractor fan above, sited towards the back with the workspace in front, and a small, square sink with a standard chrome tap.

The kitchen

This is well lit from the window and striplights. You even get a 60 Year chopping board. There’s a 142-litre slimline absorption fridge, and while my test model, seen in Slovenia, did not have an oven and grill, UK models will. There is no microwave, however.

The washroom in the Adria Matrix 670 SL 60 Year Edition

The shower cubicle in the central washroom is a bit encumbered by the wheel arch, especially as there is also a concertina door, but I thought it had good headroom. The motorhome also comes with two drain holes and a vent.

There’s another roof vent over the main washroom on the offside, where you find a salad-bowl-style basin and a mirror. You can make the dressing area bigger by folding one step to the beds.

Sleeping in the Adria Matrix 670 SL 60 Year Edition

A comfortable sleeping experience will always be a crucial consideration when looking for the best 4 berth motorhome.

The rear fixed single beds
Comfortable single beds are fitted with luxurious EvoPore mattresses

In the Matrix 670 SL 60 Year Edition, the fixed single beds are wide and comfortable – EvoPore mattresses are the 60 Year inclusion here – with all the switches you need close to hand. The electric drop-down bed up front is easy to manage, too.

Storage in the Adria Matrix 670 SL 60 Year Edition

It’s worth going for the chassis upgrade if you can – it’s a shame to limit what you can put in the garage when you’re loading your motorhome.

Inside the ’van, the largest storage areas are the wardrobes under the beds, but you can’t access these by lifting the slats, and the doors, opening towards the front, may get in the way.

Overhead lockers above the bed, which has scatter cushions on it
Plenty of storage space is available in the deep overhead lockers, while exclusive extras include smart branded scatter cushions

There is a good choice of overhead lockers, even if some are on the small side, plus two cubbyholes in the floor, and a boot locker by the door.

My test model had five drawers in the kitchen, although the oven in UK models should take up some of that. Alongside the overhead lockers above, there is a large locker over the fridge.

Alternative to consider

The Benimar Mileo 294 has a well-lit lounge with space for four to sit in comfort, as well as a comfortable rear island bed.

Alternatively, you could consider the McLouis Fusion 373. It has a comfortable bed and a spacious lounge, with a bright and airy interior.
