Shown at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC by exclusive UK distributor Cara Motorhomes for the first time, the Robeta Schumacher is a luxury campervan that is the result of a collaboration between Slovenian motorhome manufacturer Robeta and former Formula One driver Ralf Schumacher.

It’s a two berth campervan with a shower and toilet, with a high-end spec that features clean lines, superb styling and top-quality fittings and fixtures. Its dropdown electric bed extends at the sides and measures 200cm by 160cm. Then there’s the large separate shower and separate toilet, a beautiful marine ply finish and a superb digital control board from which to manage the many lighting and electric options.

The Schumacher is described by Cara Motorhomes as the ultimate van conversion. It has a range of Schumacher-inspired features including a wine cooler, a dishwasher and a luxury lounge area. There’s even a dog area under the TV/cabin and a cigar humidor.

The plush driver and passenger seats set the scene with their Schumacher and Robeta logos. With a Mercedes Sprinter chassis, the vehicle is 7.36m long and packed with Mercedes options such as Radar cruise control and Android Apple car play. It is available in right or left-hand drive and features a JL Audio system, an induction hob, 300-watt lithium batteries, a 360-watt solar panel, which charges the habitation batteries and the engine batteries. When you’re off-grid there is an inverter, and other neat features include a separate switch for lifting the bed, a TV switch, and underfloor and blown air heating.

Igor Pirtovšek, commercial director at Robeta said he is delighted by the contribution that Ralf Schumacher has made to the project.

“Ralf is easygoing and so easy to work with. And he was prepared to come to Slovenia and work intensively with us. He has so much technical knowledge, particularly regarding energy consumption, air conditioning, lighting, and the technical specification of the Mercedes unit. He was really on it.”

Robeta hopes that Schumacher Ralf will be able to join them at future shows to market the van – and is planning to showcase the vehicle at Formula One races at Monaco and Silverstone. Prices start from £278,740.

The Robeta Schumacher is not the only campervan to be making its NEC debut this year, with the Citroën Holidays appearing at the NEC for the first time. The ‘van comes with a side kitchen unit and two travel seats on a bench in the back which can be removed. Also appearing for the first time at the NEC is the Adria Supertwin through the SPB PT, which is the first to be launched from what will be a four model range.
