AUTO-TRAIL’S APACHE RANGE features three models. These coachbuilt motorhomes have gained new, fresh upholstery for 2014, and no models have been deleted from the range.
Outside you’ll notice a new grille and new rear light clusters. Inside, there is now a better control panel for the Combi boiler, a family-sized 175-litre fridge-freezer, USB charging point, more ventilation in the shower and a high-gloss finger panel on the locker doors.
Media and Sportline packs cost extra but add some well-chosen and desirable goodies, including stainless steel ‘bumper’ bars and chrome cab door handles. For 2014 the Sportline pack will continue to include the metallic Carbon Black (dark silver-grey) cab with matching graphics.
The Witter tow-bar is a new cost-option available for 2014. This should prove popular with people who like to tow a trailer-full of sports kit, a motorbike or spare car away with them when touring.
There’s a permanent transverse double bed across the rear of the Apache 632, which will score highly with taller customers. There’s also a full-width storage compartment with a door at either end. Plus you can make a second double bed up from the twin facing sofas in the lounge. Based on the Fiat Ducato 6.95m (22’9″) long, the Apache 632 still manages to stay below the 3,500kg weight limit, making it accessible to all drivers. Rear corner steadies are available as a cost option. Available in super low-line, low-line and hi-line versions, the latter has an overcab bed option.
With its rear U-shaped lounge/bedroom, the 634 has long been a strong seller for Auto-Trail. There’s even a panoramic view from the triple aspect windows in the rear living quarters. It’s a hi-line motorhome, with an overcab bed, so couples can leave the lounge intact if they wish. This Apache is 7.09m (23’3″) long.
The biggest, heaviest model in the Apache range is a magnificent family-friendly six-berth, 7.5m (24’7″) long. It has four travelling seats as standard, but you can specify two more if required. There are two separate seating and dining areas at each end of this family motorhome. The washroom, toilet and separate shower are in the centre. This motorhome is 4250kg, so younger drivers will need to upgrade their driving licences to drive it away.
