Erwin Hymer Group UK has revealed more details of its new Xplore campervan – including an OTR price of £74,999.

The Xplore CV X8, the first campervan to go under the Xplore name, was first unveiled as a prototype at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC last October, although visitors were only allowed to see it from the outside.

The rugged vehicle, based on a Fiat Ducato with a rising roof, all-terrain tiles, and a glossy black exterior with extensive decals, is part of the County Durham company’s plan to reposition Xplore (which already produces caravans) as a more adventure- and youth-focused product.

Although the vehicle remains a prototype, EHG UK has revealed that it will have a front and rear lounge with four travel seats, with slide-out platforms to turn the rear lounge into a double bed. It will also come with a 25-litre underslung LPG tank as standard.

The kitchen should include an 87-litre fridge and a three-burner gas hob with a matt black sink with an integrated chopping board cover. Worktops throughout will be porcelain white.

The whole interior will be heated by a 4.7kW Whale dual-fuel heater.

Optional extras include a reversing camera, roll-out awning and a microwave.

The £74,999 price of the vehicle is considerably higher than existing EHG UK van conversions from other motorhome manufacturers. The Elddis Autoquest CV80, for example, which also includes a rising roof, is currently available for £68,989 OTR. Xplore caravans have up until now been cheaper than Elddis models.

The new vehicle should be arriving on the forecourts of existing Xplore dealers from May this year.

The launch comes just a few months after EHG UK mothballed its Compass brand.

More news is coming out about releases from other brands too. This includes the ML-T 570 from Hymer, which is launching this spring, while Roller Team is unveiling the UK version of its Livingstone range, which is set to debut at the February NEC Show.
