Chausson has added a new model to its crossover “X” range for 2024, and has launched a new special edition “Etape” range based on a Peugeot Boxer.

At 6.36m, the new X650 is 40cm longer than the X550 Chausson used to launch the Fiat-based range a couple of years ago. Like its cousin, it is designed to give you both the advantages of a campervan – it is only 2.10m wide – with the comfort of a coachbuilt.

The new van comes with a “smart dressing room” at the back that can be raised to make room for a garage capable of holding two bikes. Chausson, who you can find out more about in our best motorhome brand guide, has also included a vario washroom and a drop-down bed over the parallel seating front lounge.

The two model “Etape” special edition, based on a 140bhp Peugeot Boxer, includes the 6.39m-long 650, which comes with a garage behind a rear washroom and a drop-down bed over the lounge. Standard fittings include cruise control, Isofix fittings to rear seats, a panoramic skylight and on the road diesel heating

This season Chausson Sport Line and Exclusive Line models run on Fiat Ducatos. But the company is continuing with its Titanium Ultimate and Graphite Ultimate lines which run on Fords. The five models in the series have an enhanced spec which includes a 170bhp engine with six-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, a rear-view camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof window, an outside BBQ point, and an external shower. An accessories pack will also get you an awning, exterior lighting and cab blinds.

This year the V594 and V597 campervans developed especially for the UK are available in a Sport version with a 170bhp engine and automatic transmission. You can get them with a Campovolo Grey exterior colour, although sticking with Black also gives you the option of a pop-up roof.

Other brands have also been releasing information about their 2024 launches, including Carthago – the brand is looking to consolidate, with only one release. Laika is also updating its Kosmo range too.
