Van converter Autohaus has called in the administrators after facing difficulties in the financial climate.

The Somerset company was well-known for converting its VW ‘van conversions, the latest of which, the new-look Spartan GT, was named best small campervan at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2025.

Another new model, the VW Crafter-based Camelot C600, was also highly commended in the “Best campervan for a family of 4” category. But Acare Leisure, which trades as Autohaus, called in the administrator Leonard Curtis earlier this month.

In a statement, the company said: “We have explored every avenue to continue, but sadly without any luck.”

Leonard Curtis’s Ellise Townsend has been appointed administrator.

The administrators say they will be contacting all affected suppliers and customers “shortly”.

Autohaus’s demise comes not long after another van converter went to the wall. Scottish-based CamperVanCo called in liquidators on Christmas Eve last year, only weeks after it had launched a new fully electric campervan based on a Toyota Proace that had a starting price of less than £20,000 OTR.

James Dewar and Alistair McAlinden from Interpath were appointed joint provisional liquidators of the company, which had offices in Denny in Scotland and Ely in West London. All 27 members of staff were made redundant.
