Adria unveils its 2018-season line-up with innovation across the portfolio, from a clever washroom in the Twin to a panoramic window in the Coral and more!

Aside from its imminent takeover by the French Trigano Group, the Slovenian manufacturer’s main focus for 2018 has been the relaunch of its budget Sun Living brand, built on the same assembly lines as mainstream Adria motorhomes in its Novo Mesto factory.

But that hasn’t stopped there being some important changes and consolidations in the main Adria line-up as well.

The headlines

The main body changes for Adria this season come in the entry-level coachbuilt Coral range.

But there are also new layouts in the ‘crossover’ Matrix range, new base vehicles for many Matrix and Coral models, and a new look for the top-spec Supreme editions across all ranges.

Adria has narrowed the range of available lengths in its van conversion Twin range, meanwhile, although those that remain include some innovative new washroom arrangements.

The changes

All Coral models now sport a huge new Sky Lounge, a double panoramic window which means most of the ceiling area over the front lounge is now glazed. Re-engineering also means Adria can now offer every Coral model with a flat floor throughout.

The main change in the ‘crossover’ Matrix range is the move from a Renault Master to a Fiat Ducato base vehicle.

But for both Coral and Matrix, the Axess 670 SC and SL models will be on a Citroën Relay (known as Jumper on the Continent) for this season. That keeps the price of the two models below the £60,000 mark.

The remaining Matrix model in Axess, the end-kitchen 590 ST, is a slight reworking of last year’s 590 SG, with an enlarged L-shaped kitchen in front of an internally accessible garage space. The drop-down bed over the lounge remains.

Sonic is back

For 2018, the A-class Sonic range returns as an all-Supreme edition of four models.

Two of these are new layouts: the 8.8m-long Sonic Supreme 810 SL has fixed single beds, while the 7.5m-long 710 SC replaces last year’s 710 SBC with a rear island bed layout that no longer includes the SBC’s central washbasin and pillar.

Two years after Adria’s 50th birthday celebrations, all trace of the word ‘Platinum’ has been removed from model names. But the silver idea lives on: all Supreme Editions (which means all Sonic models) come with silver sides, as well as Alde heating in Coral and Matrix.

Plus editions (which includes all Coral XL and Compact models) come with a choice of either a black cab, a silver cab or a white cab, while Axess models are only offered with a white cab.

On the inside, Sonic interiors this year are all Symphony White with a choice of either black leather Edward or pale grey leather Agnes soft furnishings.

Symphony White also features in Matrix and Coral Supreme, and Plus editions, while Axess editions use Tempo Brown with more of a natural wood look. Soft-furnishing choices in both Matrix and Coral are either leather Fumo or Louis.

There’s relatively little change on the overcab Coral XL range, which remains a two-model line-up, or on the Compact. These narrower ’vans, designed for tighter spaces and cities, continue as three models, including the popular slide-out Compact SLS.

A trio of Twins

Adria was the first manufacturer to offer a van conversion with a fixed bed. But that was way back towards the start of the century, and although the Twin range has remained popular ever since, time has moved on.

For 2018, the Adria Twin range returns minus the 540 model, previously the shortest in the range based on a short-wheelbase Fiat Ducato.

Instead you get a choice of three models: the 5.99m-long Twin 600 SP, based on the long-wheelbase Ducato, and the 6.36m-long Twin 640 SPX and 640 SL, based on the extra-long-wheelbase version of the same vehicle.

All three showcase substantially improved washrooms. It has been extended in both the transverse-bed 600 SP and the twin-fixed-single-bed 640 SL, in the latter case so that it no longer has a shower tray with its tambour door coming out into the aisle.

In the 640 SPX, which has a transverse bed, you’ll find a separate shower cubicle across the aisle from the main washroom with an innovative door arrangement that can be configured in three different ways, including one which seals the area off completely, to create a central extended washroom across the centre of the ’van.

Economy-level Twin ’vans come in a choice of four exterior colours: standard white, or three metallic choices in black, iron grey or silver aluminium. Interiors are Malaga with a choice of either leather Fumo or (new for this year) Louise textile.

Premium-level Twin T 600 SP models can come in standard white or iron grey, or one of two metallic options: silver aluminium or Baltic orange metallic. Their interiors are Titan with either leather Edward or Brivido textiles

In other news

There are new exterior graphics on all ranges this year.

In addition, following negotiations with its underwriters about its Comprex wood and composite construction method, Adria can now offer an extended 10-year water-ingress warranty on all new models.
