Why tour here?
Dan Wright said:
“I’m about as far from a Yorkshireman as you could get: Home Counties born and bred, big fan of quiche and I have been known to call a spade a ‘multi-purpose garden implement’. Yet somehow, the Dales feel like home to me. Little has changed here over recent years: architecture and landscape blend organically and the few large towns are based around centuries-old market squares. There’s little of the disposability of modern life here: everything’s built to last.
“Walkers and motorists love the panoramas here, yet we found the towns and villages just as welcoming, with fine local food and drink throughout the region.
“This picture was taken at Burnsall one summer evening with a cricket match playing out. Burnsall is north of Bolton Abbey, and one of the loveliest villages in the Dales.”
