THE LONG LOCKDOWN and supply problems caused by it led Auto-Sleepers to decide not to produce any new models for 2022, and instead focus R&D on what looks likely to be a bumper 2023.

But the company, which celebrates its 60th birthday in 2021, has not been resting on its laurels. Instead, it has used the opportunity to upgrade the cab in the Peugeot Boxer-based models it produces.

For the 2022 season, the Peugeot cabs now come with twin armrests fitted on captain’s seats, as well as a new Zenec T-N965 9-inch media console with DAB/FM radio, integrated high definition touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, adjustable screen positioning and full Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and steering wheel controls.

There is a new upholstery colour scheme for vehicles based on a Peugeot Boxer – Vogue Slate for van conversions and Vogue Pebble for coachbuilts.

The beginning of this anniversary year did see the company bring out two special edition models to celebrate.

The Nuevo EK and Nuevo ES were already two of the firm’s best-selling vehicles. In these special editions, they come with a 165bhp engine as well as a combined heating and air conditioning system that helps you maintain constant temperature inside.

Working off the Truma iNet control, the system operates as long as you run it off electricity.

You also get exclusive upholstery, with scatter cushions that are so large you might never have to bring pillows.

The third model introduced at the beginning of the year is the Broadway EL – a two-berth with a cosy rear lounge – which is 6.6m long. That’s long enough to give you the option of keeping two single beds instead of making up the double, but not so long that you’ll find this vehicle a burden to drive.
