The 16-inch wheels of the Metro 3 are a mixed blessing. You feel lumps and bumps in the road more than you do with the other bikes, but the Metro 3 folds down to a very compact size. The Metro’s spec punches above its price point, with a luggage rack, mudguards, kickstand and a carry bag. What’s more, it’s the only bike we tested that has a chainguard to stop clothes from getting oily.
The Metro 3 is better suited to shorter riders. If you’re tall, the limited range of handlebar adjustment means your hands are down by your knees. There’s also some flex from the front of the bike. Short journeys will be fine, but we wouldn’t want to take the Metro 3 out for a day trip. Folding it is quick and easy, and it’s pretty stable when folded. Unfolding is intuitive and fast so you’ll be ready to ride in moments.
