Read the expert verdict on the Hymer T-Class 674GT in Practical Motorhome's review

    Verdict

Very impressive, with few faults, but not great value for money.

    Pros

    Opulently detail and exquisite build
    Excellent specification and beds

    Cons

    Expensive
Driver’s cab seat fouls the furniture as you rotate it
    No oven option

    Living

Hymer has gone for pale-coloured upholstery which really brightens the interior, but in practical terms, it may show grubby marks in use and look shabby over time.
With only the space for a half-dinette, the T-Class is up against it when it comes to spending comfy evenings in the cabin, but it work wells. At least, it would if it weren’t for the truculent driver’s seat, which is a real struggle to spin into position for dining and lounging. Once in place, however, the dinette is usable by four diners and the cab seats are a comfy place to perch for an evening. The cab seats are a good height for the table, which is very easy to swing into position.

    Kitchen

The kitchen area is flat, forward of the living area and lacks an oven or grill – and there is nowhere suitable to install one. It makes good use of the available space however, with a recessed sink cover to match the working surfaces, which can be reversed to use as a chopping board. The three drawers under the sink are spacious and in typical Hymer fashion sport an elegant locking arrangement to stop them opening en route. The 97-litre fridge is fitted beneath the counter, which restricts the amount of food and utensil storage, but the Hymer’s limited length precludes putting the fridge elsewhere.

    Washroom

Being a short ’van, you might expect the Hymer to be at a disadvantage when it comes to washroom space, but the washroom with its separate shower, solid door, handsome fittings and light interior is very impressive. It’s a little short on floor space but the same criticism can be levelled at many rivals.

    Beds

The T-Class suffers from a narrow staircase up to the bed but it’s worth the trek. There are no roof lockers lining the bed area so there are acres of head room and it feels spacious.
The mattresses are five inches thick, with sprung bed slats and wall spacers. A bonus is that the infill cushions can be used to turn the single beds into one enormous double. The upholstered headboard means it is easy to read, or lounge, in bed and adds a feel of real luxury.

    Storage

The Hymer is light on roof lockers in the bed area. It is great as far as headroom is concerned, but less so for storage purposes. There are other options, though. The garage is huge, with a few nooks and shelves for storing small items.
