Verdict
A roomy, practical ’van for the larger family. Quality at a bargain price.
Pros
Spacious interior; good lounge/dining area; tough, RWD base vehicle
Cons
Commercial vehicle ride quality; long-ish body; category C1 driving licence required
Living
Dethleffs chose two dinettes for its Eurostyle: a double on the offside and a single on the nearside. Apart from accommodating six people with ease, it also offers a family of motorcaravanners plenty of versatility.
Kitchen
The Eurostyle’s kitchen certainly looks the part. It is stylish and functional, but does suffer from a lack of usable worksurface and the absence of a grill. Cooks will probably have to make use of one of the dinettes when preparing vegetables and other food.
The handily positioned gas isolator knobs are a good feature, though. Having them on view and within easy reach means that it would be easy to cut off the gas supply to the kitchen appliances in case of an emergency.
The Eurostyle also has useful spot lighting, whereas the other ’vans have lighting that is only just adequate for the kitchen area.
Washroom
The Eurostyle has a separate showering area, a moulded vanity bowl with a cupboard underneath and a separate mixer tap for the shower, which gets a glazed, bi-fold door.
Beds
Families on tour in the Eurostyle will appreciate the fact that even with six beds deployed, insomniacs can sit comfortably at the single dinette while the rest are asleep. Disappointingly, the bunk bed ladder is very uncomfortable for bare feet.
Storage
High-level lockers combine with underseat storage and a garage space underneath the lower bunk bed. Arthritic hands may find the Eurostyle’s push-button locks painful to operate but they do provide a secure mechanism.
The large garage door offers transverse, through-belly storage for long, skinny items. It also provides tie-down cleats in the garage. The gas cylinder holds two x 13kg cylinders.
