Verdict
Blessed with a top-notch base vehicle, the 690 G is an elegant and comfortable proposition. The washroom, in particular, is very good for a motorhome with this layout. Nevertheless, as storage would be a little sparse for more than two people, we suspect that this ’van will work best as a motorhome for a couple – particularly as there are only two belted seats anyway. In this case, you’re not likely to want – or need – that optional drop-down bed.
Pros
Elegant and comfortable
Good washroom for this layout
Cons
Storage limited if travelling with more than two people
Alongside its Fiat-based ranges, Bürstner has always wanted to include an up-to-date range based on the Mercedes Sprinter. Many believe the Sprinter’s rear-wheel drive makes the vehicle sit better on the road and so is worth going for, even if that means extra weight.
The two Mercedes-based Lyseo Harmony Line models the German company has introduced for 2020 both have an MTPLM of 3880kg, so are only available for people with a C1 licence.

Living
The seats on the forward-facing bench don’t come with three-point seatbelts, even as an option, but there is plenty of room for at least four around here, and you should all be kept warm thanks to well placed vents. There are also sockets and a bracket for a TV behind the forward-facing seat, so at least two of you can watch.
Kitchen
The central kitchen isn’t quite so comfortable. As it doesn’t have an extension at all – in fact it has a substantial windbreak where you might expect to see an extension – workspace is tight. And you only get three burners on the hob, all of them gas. Might we not have expected a bit more at this price? At least it’s well lit, both by a large window and by LEDs under the roomy overhead lockers.
A combined oven and grill under the hob doesn’t take up too much room alongside a useful combination of drawers and lockers, and there’s a 142-litre slimline fridge between the kitchen and the rear bed.
Washroom
The bathroom continues the sophisticated feel, with a large basin and well-lit mirror. You don’t get a separate shower cubicle, but there are two drainage holes in the shower tray.
Beds
At 1.93m in length, the single beds aren’t hugely long, although they are 80cm wide and comfy. In addition to inset spotlights under the two overhead lockers, you also get an elegant central light and a set of USB sockets. Two wardrobes under the bed make up the main internal storage area too, although the overhead lockers here and above the front lounge are sizeable and well placed.
