Heading on tour with your dog presents you with the chance to take in beautiful views, safe in the knowledge that your canine companion is also having a great time.

However, choosing the right location to head to isn’t always an easy decision. To help you settle on the parts of the UK to explore, Pitchup.com has identified the standout destinations to head to, taking into account the accommodation on offer, as well as the pubs and restaurants in the area.

This was done by using TripAdvisor, Booking.com and internal data to score campsites and hotels that were suitable for four-legged friends, along with welcoming pubs and restaurants.

The Peak District was the region that came out on top, in the process beating areas such as Cornwall and the Lake District.

The beautiful market town of Bakewell combines stunning architecture with medieval history, allowing you and your pooch to soak up some culture.

The Peak District had another representative make it into the top 10, with Buxton finishing in sixth. It’s a picturesque spot that is well-known for its springs, as well as providing some charming country pubs, ideal to head to for some refreshments after a stroll around the town.
