A new welfare hub and facilities are opening in Aberfeldy Car Park, making exploration of Highland Perthshire easier than ever for motorhome users.

Upon completion, the hub, which is going to be next to Beyond Adventure (pictured above), will provide accessible and family-friendly facilities, as well as waste disposal for motorhome users.

The facilities will also provide information about the River Tay Way, a new route in Scotland that extends between Kenmore and Perth for walkers, and on to Dundee for cyclists.

It is hoped that the new facilities will enhance the experience of visitors to the region – as well as local communities – and lift the pressure on current facilities, as well as encourage exploration of the surrounding area on foot or bike.

Work on the project – which is being overseen by Perth & Kinross Council, Mains of Murthly Farm, and Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT) – started on 5 December 2022 and will take 20 weeks. Funding has been provided by Perth & Kinross Council and VisitScotland.

Councillor Andrew Parrott, convener of Perth & Kinross Council’s Environment, Infrastructure and Economic Development said: “Highland Perthshire will always be a popular destination, and these will make sure visitors can enjoy their visit, no matter how they travel here.”

Peter Quinn, PKCT Trust Director: “As the River Tay Way walking and cycling routes run south of Aberfeldy past the cemetery and adjoining car park, we recognised the influx of visitors exploring the route will put a strain on local facilities at Beyond Adventure and in the town.”

“This new multi-use, free to use toilet and shower facility will alleviate this visitor pressure on facilities, drive additional tourism and subsequent economic benefit for the community, and promote the River Tay Way and environmental, physical and mental health benefits of active travel.”
