Looking to tour on a budget? Our popular Nightstops scheme is a great way to save money on campsite fees as you explore the UK.

It has a new addition, perfectly placed for exploring the Highlands of Scotland and the Orkney islands without breaking the bank.

Air Extreme, the most Northerly high ropes course in the UK, has joined the scheme to provide a great place to park up for the night.

What’s on offer?

As well as an exhilarating high ropes course, Air Extreme offers a convenient stop-off for anyone looking to avoid high site fees.

Facilities include a fresh water tap, rubbish bins, hard standings and a dog exercise area.

You’ll need to use your leisure battery for power, but you do get plenty of other amenities for the meagre £10 per night fee.

What’s here?

Just 7 miles from John O’Groats, and less than a mile from a ferry terminal to the Orkney islands, this site is well located for anyone wanting an off-the-beaten-track tour of northern Scotland. It’s also a good stop off along the North Coast 500 driving route.

More locally, Castle of Mey, a restored fortress from the 16th century, is interesting to visit and has a tearoom.

Wick and Thurso are the nearest major towns, both of which have a good selection of shops and eateries.

What is a Nightstop?

Practical Motorhome’s Nightstops scheme is run in association with The Motor Caravanners’ Club (MCC) and is here to save you money and help you go further.

Our locations are sites across Britain where campervans and motorhomes can overnight for a modest fee. Some are back-to-basics sites with few facilities, while others provide a full range of services.

You’ll find them at hotels, farms, pubs and more – some will even let you stay for free if you dine at their establishment.

Happy touring!
