Matt Sims, who was involved in the setting up of Bristol’s Family Travel Centre five years ago, has branched out and set up a motorhome-hire business right next door! Called The Motorhome Holiday Company, it will also operate a try-before-you-buy scheme in conjunction with its retailer neighbour.
“The Motorhome Holiday Company is just one of a number of initiatives I’m working on. I plan to grow this and open depots in Birmingham, Manchester, south London and Scotland.
“Prices will be from £100 per day. VW campervan conversions will be available for hire. This includes Crafter-based premium models by another of my new ventures, X-Trek Adventure Vehicles.” We’ll have more news about it this year.
“In addition, we offer four-, five- and six-berth Adria motorhomes, which are ideal for try-before-you-buy. We’re also taking on other brands. I’m happy to hear from owners who would like to earn money by letting us hire out their vehicles. We’ll do all the work – including insurance, breakdown cover, providing utensils and even storage – and will treat them like our own pride and joy!”
Why hire a motorhome?
Motorhome hire or campervan hire can have many benefits. Perhaps you’re looking to rent a ‘van for a fly-drive tour, maybe in the US or Down Under? Or maybe you are unsure about investing in a motorhome? Or you’re puzzled over which layout would work best for you?
Try-before-you-buy schemes operated by several motorhome retailers – from their own rental fleets or in conjunction with hire specialists – can help you decide.
Hiring a ’van could be an option on its own, too, given the state of the market. Sales were booming at the start of the season, and manufacturers have struggled to keep up with this demand. This may also affect the market for used motorhomes for sale. So if you’ve promised yourself a touring holiday but buying the ’van of your dreams seems unlikely this year, why not try hiring one?
