Take a look at the three new coachbuilt motorhomes Lunar is launching at the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show this week.
The new two-berth Telstar and four-berth Roadstar TI and SB are the first time Lunar has offered coachbuilt low-profiles in its range since 2008. All the new models have been built at Lunar’s Preston factory on a Renault Master chassis and all come with a Euro 6 130PS (128bhp) engine as standard.
Lunar says it has gone with the Renault base vehicle partly because of easy availability and because it comes with an automatic gearbox as an option. All models come with an Aspire 2 cooker with a Dometic cooker hood, a Dometic fridge and freezer and four-burner hob (including one electric plate) as standard.
The two-berth Telstar features a U-shaped rear lounge with views through windows on three sides, with a central kitchen and washroom. There is no front lounge, but there is a small shelf next to the swivelled driver’s seat if you are only stopping for a snack.
The 6.4m-long ’van starts at £46,999 OTR, some six grand more than Swift’s Ducato-based Escape 622, which shares a similar layout. But the Swift ’van is 11cm shorter, has a lower spec kitchen and no reversing camera in the cab.
The two Roadstar ’vans are both 7.68m-long and start at £59,999. The SB includes two fixed single beds in the rear, the longest of which is 1.87m long, and an end washroom. The central kitchen has a worktop on both sides of the motorhome.
The TI includes a 1.75m-long adjustable island bed in the rear, but bucks current trends by having a central washroom down the offside only, still with a separate shower. This leaves enough room for a large kitchen worktop. Both Roadstars have large front dinettes that could easily seat four people for eating, and more for entertaining.
If you get to the NEC over the weekend (the show runs 11-16 October), they are definitely worth a look.
