Ballyness is based in Bushmills and there’s plenty to do in the surrounding area. It’s a mere 10-minute drive away from the picturesque Causeway Coast, while Belfast is an hour’s drive. A big congratulations goes to Ballyness Caravan Park, a site which is not only our Regional Winner for Northern Ireland, but is also the Overall Winner of our 2024 guide.

It’s a beautiful campsite that highlights the importance of getting the basics right, providing visitors with excellent customer service and facilities. Combine this with its gorgeous surroundings and it has proved a winning formula.

The hardstanding pitches are spread across three areas, offering water, drainage and hook-up points. There is plenty to keep everyone occupied onsite, with a play park and football field for youngsters, along with a dog walk for our canine companions. An indoor games room and free WiFi are also provided.

When it comes to offsite excursions, there will be plenty to choose from. This includes Bushmills, a short 15-minute walk away, or setting off on the 10-minute drive to the Causeway Coast, where glorious sandy beaches and coastal paths can be discovered.

Alternatively, take in the bright lights of Belfast, which is around an hour away, or visit Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Old Bushmills Brewery or Giant’s Causeway.

An ideal site for those after a seaside getaway, Chesthutt Holiday Park is a popular family campsite which provides direct access to Cranfield Beach, where paddle boarding can be enjoyed. Onsite, adults can head to Beachcomber Café, while children can make use of the playground or multi-sport court.

For day trips, guests can visit some of the beaches in the area, Silent Valley Mountain Park and the Woodland Trust’s Mourne Park.

Set in a great location between the Irish Sea and the mountains, Sandilands Holiday Park provides pitches with sea views, as well as the option of renting holiday homes. With direct access to the beach, the dog-friendly site also offers a central washroom block.

Walkers and cyclists will find a variety of routes to embark upon, as the campsite is set at the very southern tip of the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Children will also be able to make use of a play area, while laundry facilities are to hand at the dog-friendly site.

Sitting between Tollymore Forest Park and Murlough National Nature Reserve, Windsor Holiday Park is a picturesque campsite which is only five minutes away from Newcastle, a picturesque seaside town.

Grass separates the spacious pitches, while a small shop, laundry facilities heated washrooms and a children’s play area are among the amenities on offer.

The Mourne Mountains are only a short drive away too. For something different, take a trip on the Downpatrick & County Down Railway or enjoy exploring Castlewellan Forest Park & Peace Maze.
