Vango

With supply chains still affected by the fall-out from lockdown, Vango hasn’t made any major changes to its motorhome and drive-away awning ranges for the 2022 season. It has, however, launched the Cove II Air Low, a drive-away air awning for campervans, which faces the same direction as the campervan for added privacy and comes with a sewn-in groundsheet.

The company has also brought out two sleep mats specifically designed for the VW California, the 5cm thick California POP and 10cm thick California Rock & Roll. Both are made with 3D construction to ensure that you can use every part of the mat to sleep on.

Isabella

Whether it’s a freestanding set-up, a porch or an air awning, as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of awnings for motorhomes, Isabella has a model to suit you and your ‘van. You can find out more about Isabella’s new products for campervans and motorhomes on the Isabella stand, right here in Hall 4 at Van Live!

Kampa

Since being taken over by Dometic a couple of years ago, the Kampa brand has now been maintained for drive-away awnings and tents. Its major launch in the former sector this season has been the Sprint Air, a light (just over 12kg) air awning designed for the limited space of a campervan. Made of 68D Weathershield fabric it can be assembled in minutes, with multiple point inflation, and dismantling is as easy as assembly.

Although it is only 1.55m deep, a wet weather entrance canopy extends the sheltered area by 90cm and provides a perfect place to leave your boots and other outdoor items if they are muddy. No wonder it is our motorhome awning of the year.

Outdoor Revolution

Outdoor Revolution has been tweaking a few of its products this season. In particular the twin-sided Cayman Combo, part of a range that, following a redesign last year, has become one of the company’s biggest sellers, and has had its porch door changed to allow for an optional cabin inner tent to be introduced. This creates an extra sleeping or storage space without impacting on the main living area.

The Cayman Combo itself is also available in a polycotton version for people who go touring in hotter climates. At the same time Outdoor Revolution’s flagship Movelite range has been updated with lighter fabric and new designs. On the T3E and T4E awnings there is an option to add a porch door and an annex.

Outwell

Outwell has extended the range of rear-mounted awnings it offers considerably for the 2022 season. The Sandcrest S and L and Beachcrest are all new models – the Sandcrest aimed at VW Transporter conversions and the Beachcrest for other, larger vehicles. Two new models have also been added to its Air Cruising range of single point inflation models made with Outtex Select 4000 Select Fabric. The Bremburg and and Linnburg Air Rear are both drive-away awnings.

The Superior Air Touring range, meanwhile, is now made with 75D polyester ripstop fabric with a 6,000mm hydrostatic head. There is one new model in the line-up, the Maryville 260SA Flex, a conventional 90-degree pitch drive-away awning with a moveable front wall and large mesh side windows.

Trigano

The French manufacturer’s latest addition to its range is the Phuket, a side opening driveaway awning for heights of between 240 and 270cm. Available in two sizes – 180 and 240, it comes with a large, single front window to let the light flood in. The Camptex fabric is lightweight and water resistant.

The new awning sits alongside Trigano’s existing inflatable range which includes the Santa Clara, Bali and Hawaii, as well as more specialist models such at the North Twin, designed for campervans with two sections separated by an aisle.

Quest Leisure/Westfield

Quest Leisure is well known for importing the German Westfield range of awnings into this country. But for 2022, it has updated its own popular Falcon range. This is available in both air and pole formats, and for motorhomes with heights from 180 to 210 and 240 to 270. The central roof beam on the air version includes a sleeve for an optional roof light. Storm straps are now included as standard.

All models feature a roll-up front panel and two side doors with mesh panels on the main living area. Then in the tunnel there are two more doors so you can get quickly in and out of your vehicle if need be.
