Verdict
Many off-road campervans seem to assume that you want to give up style to have adventure. You’ll need a fair bit of cash to get one, but with the Beyond4 you can have both. Remember that you can supply a pre-owned base vehicle, too, which could help keep costs down.
Pros
- Impressively wide transverse bed
- Has a huge garage
- Stylish and spacious washroom
Cons
- C1 licence needed
- Expensive
- No washbasin in washroom
You need to have a C1 licence to drive the Crozier Campers Beyond4. And it doesn’t come cheap: on a rear-wheel-drive chassis it starts at £136,000, while the full all-wheel-drive chassis would set you back at least £142,000.
This is firmly in the luxury campervan price bracket. Crozier can, however, produce the campervan on a used vehicle you provide, in which case it may still just make it into five figures. As you might expect, the exterior looks rugged, and a contour decal pattern is repeated on much of the predominantly black interior furniture. Our test model was in black, but all Mercedes’ colours are available.
Cab and lounge in the Crozier Campers Beyond4
The new vehicle comes with a Mercedes 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox as standard. If a cab with plenty of tech is important to you when choosing the best camper van, you could be pleased to hear the Crozier Campers Beyond 4’s cab comes with a wireless charging pad, heated faux leather seats and a heated steering wheel, a front and rear dash cam, and a reversing camera that’s live while driving for blind spot monitoring.

The cab seats swivel (and can come with reading lights for £200 extra each), and the two travel seats that face them across a clip-on table could almost work as cab seats themselves, as they can be adjusted for maximum comfort and come with Isofix fittings. The table itself isn’t huge, but for £550 an additional clip-on table can be mounted behind the passenger seat.
For heating in here you have the Alde Compact 4000 diesel heating system, while the interior walls are insulated both to preserve heat and to deaden outside noise.
Kitchen in the Crozier Campers Beyond4
The side kitchen can come in a range of finishes including solid oak, walnut or corian. There’s a large black stainless-steel sink with a matching black tap, and a 90-litre Thetford fridge. As standard for cooking there is a hidden twin-ring induction hob that is removable for outside use.

If you prefer, for £1000 you can have a Thetford twin-ring induction hob built into the worktop. Our test model also included a £250 Wonder Oven – a 6-in-1 device that can fry, bake, roast, grill, reheat and toast.
The washroom in the Crozier Campers Beyond4
The washroom looks straight out of a designer magazine and is surprisingly spacious.

That’s partly because it doesn’t include a washbasin: the designers have not unreasonably decided that adventurous types will likely be happy to do all their ablutions under the mixer shower, or use the kitchen sink.
Sleeping in the Crozier Campers Beyond4
The transverse bed is an impressive 1.4m wide and comes with a memory foam mattress. There are also reading lights with built-in USB sockets.

Our test model did not include a pop-up roof to make this van a four-berth, although an SCA one is available for £9000 (or £9780, if you want it electric). A cheaper option is
to have foldaway bunks you can fit across the cab, which are £500 for a single and £600 for a double.
Storage in the Crozier Campers Beyond4
As you would expect for a ’van all about adventure, there are some very good campervan storage options. This includes a huge garage under the transverse bed that you can access from inside without necessarily having to lift the bed itself.
Along with beautifully crafted vents and access to the electrics, this comes with a list of extras including a slide-out tray (£950) or a bike mount for slightly less money (£450 for a single one, £700 for a double).

For extra storage for large items on the outside, you can opt for the roof rack our test model had (£2700 on a new vehicle) or any of a number of different combinations that include storage boxes, more bike racks and a ladder. These start at £4800.

There are also all sorts of ingenious hanging baskets and storage trays inside this ’van, not to mention a set of solid drawers and a slide-out shelf in the kitchen. The many overhead lockers on our test model had an attractive rattan finish, but other finishes are available including FatFace and a Shaker style.
We particularly liked the removable panels in place of curtains on some of the windows, too.

Alternatives to consider
The Panama P\10E is a four-berth hybrid EV that has plenty of tech, comfortable beds, and is enjoyable to drive.
Alternatively, you could take a look at the WildAx Equinox, as it can come on an all-wheel-drive Ford Transit base vehicle with 17-inch off-road wheels with all-terrain tyres.
