Verdict
Think all of this is too much? It’s also available as the Nexxo Time t690 G, priced from £48,210. Still, the extra £7000 for the Sovereign buys a lot more.
You’ll most likely compare it to ’vans with the same floorplan from Knaus, Adria, Rapido, sister brands Hymer and Dethleffs and other Continental marques.
Unlike any of these, the Sovereign variant boasts kit exclusively for the UK and its pricing has been kept razor sharp.
Bürstner’s super-specified Sovereigns offer a great blend of equipment and style, but at fiercely competitive prices. You’re spoiled with Bürstner’s generous range of choice in soft furnishings and more.
Pros
The rear twin single beds have adjustable backrests
There’s an extra wide habitation door
There are a great many upholstery options
Cons
The washroom has no window
When you’re putting up a 40-vehicle strong portfolio, you want some sure-fire winners. This is definitely one. Along with eight others, Bürstner has given Sovereign status to this, the Nexxo t690 G – a model that’s been vying for the top sales spot with the Ixeo Time it726 G. (The ’vans have the same floorplan, but the Ixeo adds a drop-down bed.)
It follows the previous year’s ‘55’ limited edition, but Sovereigns give you a better specification and a wide variety of improvements.
Bürstner has kept pricing almost the same. It’s also retained a maximum weight of 3500kg for this Sovereign, although chassis upgrades are available.
There’s a host of alternative designs for the zip-on cushions, which adds up to almost 50 configurations
Living
The lounge is Continental, with a rear travel seat (the L-shape pictured here is optional), a single side seat and swivel cab chairs. The table is on an adjustable pedestal leg, and a swing-out extension allows four to dine in comfort.
Mora pine-effect is the standard furniture facing; a lighter ginger teak is also available. The leather-style upholstery is also standard in the Sovereign, but this is Bürstner, so there’s a host of alternative designs for the zip-on cushions. It adds up to almost 50 configurations.
Kitchen
The kitchen looks compact at first, especially given the oven fitted for UK users. However, the designers made the most of the area. For example, the three-ring hob is set back to create useful workspace before it.
Roof lockers above the hob curve inward in the middle so you cook without hitting your head on them. Below the sink is a large, three-shelf ‘apothecary drawer’. In addition, the 145-litre Dometic fridge has a removable freezer and other features.
Washroom
The washroom is a gem, thanks to a swing-wall that creates a full shower.
Beds
Rear twin singles lead the growing popularity of fixed-bed layouts – and these have adjustable backrests. Still, there are factors to consider when shopping around.
Bed height is critical, and Bürstner has aimed for a balance between access to the beds (there are three steps) and optimising space in the garage below.
Storage
In terms of storage, this motorhome’s bedroom has its own first-class options, including wardrobes under the foot of each bed. Another nice touch is the hinged locker inside the habitation door, that’s good for smaller shoes and other items.
Space under the seats is also arranged cleverly. For example, the water tank is under the rear seat and a nearside hatch allows unhindered access to it for filling. The Truma Combi boiler is next to it, in the middle of the ’van, which should make the dispersion of heat more efficient.
The garage is large and has access doors on both sides, plus there are some extra cubbies here, too.
