Verdict
The 2014 Auto-Trail V-Line 620’s stablemate shares the fixed-bed model’s moulded end panel and boot. But the 610 offers advantages that will be just the thing for some motorcaravanning couples.
Pros
This superbly stylish camper is designed solely for couples
It is just short of six metres long
Its MTPLM is 3,500kg
If you don’t mind making the bed every night, you’ll get more room to sleep in the 610
Cons
For a similar price you could consider buying a coachbuilt motorhome
Auto-Trail launched its V-Line 610 and 620 at the NEC in Birmingham in February, 2014. It was the follow-up to the first ever V-Line, which had been launched in October, 2013.
Compared to the fixed-bed V-Line 620, the 610 feels more spacious inside. The parallel-sofas at the end make a comfy lounge-diner by day and an excellent bedroom by night. With those two needs sorted, there’s no need to squeeze in the 620’s little dinette. This allows more space for the centrally-located washroom and kitchen.
Living
The rear parallel lounge has a centre chest and a table. Daylight pours in, and twin beds or a double can be made up at night. The chest’s top can be extended for drinks and snacks. The furnishings combine well with the mid-tone wood and granite worktop.
Kitchen
Towards the cab on the offside are a half-length wardrobe above the drawer-style fridge. On the nearside is the glass worktop that conceals the cooker and sink.
Washroom
The washroom features a shower with a sunken floor to accommodate tall people. There’s just that bit more room for the toilet, sink and shower in this washroom than in the V-Line 620’s compact washroom.
Beds
The rear of the camper is where you’ll find the lounge, with its twin facing sofas placed longitudinally. At night it’s a quick job to convert them into a reasonably spacious transverse double bed, 1.85m x 1.37m (6’1″ x4’6″).
This makes the double bed in the 610 approximately 17cm (7″) wider than the fixed-double bed in the V-Line 620. If you don’t mind making the bed every night and you don’t need to accommodate a child or small guest, you’ll get a more spacious bed in this V-Line 610.
Storage
Open the van’s rear doors and you’ll get a pleasant surprise. Both the V-Line 610 and 620 boast boots with dedicated storage space for a gas cylinder, wet items and two camping chairs.
