German leisure vehicle manufacturing firm Knaus Tabbert Group has announced better than expected financial results for the past year, turning a profit for the first time since it underwent restructuring two years ago.
The group has reported that its sales for the year exceeded expectations, with a total of 10,600 units sold across its motorhome and caravan brands. This resulted in an annual turnover of €181.6 million, a healthy improvement of 36% over the previous year’s figure of €133.6 million), and a post-tax profit of €3.3 million. This has been achieved, to use the company’s own words, “in spite of extraordinarily high investments in product development and despite the insolvency of an important trading partner”.
Knaus Tabbert Group is the owner of the much-loved motorhome brand Knaus, which continues to be popular in the UK despite having withdrawn from the market due to financial constraints. The brand was formerly carried by several UK dealers, such as Lowdhams. Used examples of Knaus ’vans are still widely available in the UK.
