The Caravan Club has announced a link-up with motorway service area provider Roadchef to improve the quality of stops for motor caravanners.

The Club makes every effort to alert operators to motorcaravanners’ feedback regarding the problems encountered when taking regular rest breaks at least every two hours as recommended by the Highways Agency. The new arrangement between the two companies enables Roadchef to plan more effectively for the needs of motorcaravanners and this feedback will be taken into account during improvement works.

Frequently, rest areas are poorly signposted, dirty and have very poor provision for access from caravan and motorhome parking areas to the toilets and shops. Security is a major problem, too, meaning motorcaravanners are often scared to leave their ’vans unattended. These are all problems that can hopefully be addressed as part of the new agreement.

Facility improvements ultimately benefit all motorcaravanners, but Caravan Club members further benefit from a 20% discount in the Costa, Wimpy, Burger Company, Hot Food Co or Restbite concessions they’ll find at the services. To claim the discount, members simply present a voucher, which can be downloaded from the Club’s website, with their membership card at the till.

“We’re pleased that the concerns of members have been taken on board by Roadchef,” explained Tony Lewis, membership marketing manager at The Caravan Club. “It’s important to take a proper break when you’re on a long journey and we want to make sure wherever possible that Club members can do so in comfort and safety, so they return to the road refreshed and replenished!”

“Caravan Club members are key users of our services and the relationship between our two organisations can only work for their benefit,” commented Simon Turl, chief executive of Roadchef.  “I look forward to seeing even more positive changes for them at our locations as part of our parking area improvements.”
