Leading touring caravan manufacturer Bailey Caravans is set to launch its first ever range of motorhomes at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at Birmingham’s NEC from October 11.
Bailey is one of the UK’s leading tourer manufacturers, with a 60-year pedigree of building well-equipped but keenly priced caravans, and they confirm that their first vehicles will be a range of coachbuilts featuring the award winning Alu-Tech body shell construction system, as revealed in our blog back in February.
Alu-Tech means that bonded panels such as the sidewall and roof are clamped together with an aluminium extrusion, which is in turn held in place from the inside by a metal connecting bracket. The assembly is then locked together by a T-bolt fixing and a plastic cap covers the fittings so it all looks neat from the inside.
The benefits of this are a stronger shell, and better defence against leaks at the seal where panels join. Bailey’s so confident of its methods that it offers a 10-year bodyshell integrity guarantee for its caravans. Click here to find out more about Alu-Tech construction.
Over the past twelve months Bailey has been working on modifying the Alu-Tech system to suit the different needs of a motorhome. The vehicles were then subjected to a series of accelerated life and structural tests, as well as undergoing testing in a climate control chamber at the Millbrook Proving Ground.
We’ll report on the latest Bailey motorhome news, and offer sneak previews of the motorhome prior to its launch here online, and in Practical Motorhome magazine. You can also visit the Bailey Motorhome site, which will be updated with regular news and product information.
