UPMARKET FRENCH BRAND Le Voyageur is 40 years old this year, and to celebrate that fact, it is following the example of many other brands in recent years and launching an anniversary special edition.

Available on the 7.8 and 8.5 range models only, the anniversary editions come with exclusive embroidered leather upholstery. You also get a gift pack, consisting of an embossed leather folder, a bottle cooler, a plaid rug, two bath towels, a bath mat and extra velvet scatter cushions.

The anniversary editions come in Le Voyageur’s existing Dune finish, but for 2021, it is also adding a different wood finish as an option. Riviera is a slightly darker wood that offers a bit of extra warmth. Both Dune and Riviera are now complemented by black surfaces in the lounge, kitchen and washroom, designed to be more in keeping with the matte-black finish of much of the hardware.

The cab has been updated and now has a black carpet and a dashboard covered in imitation leather, with decorative stitching and a brand logo.

There have also been subtle changes elsewhere: tall cupboards now come with a matte-white or optional gloss-white finish. The size of the skirt around the edges of the seat-base cushions has been reduced, to improve the look of  the seating, and the backrests are now two-tone, with a strip of flannel fabric.

The spec includes Dometic’s Series 10 two-way opening fridge, and a 210Ah lithium battery. Together with the 1800W inverter and 175W solar panel that are already included, and ot forgetting the second toilet module, a Le Voyageur motorhome should be one that will take you touring off-grid in style and comfort.

Le Voyageur: A quick history

Le Voyageur’s founder, George Sacier, had a vision to design a motorhome that would be capable of taking you “as far as your desire to conquer the world extends”.

He wanted to base all of his vehicles around four pillars: durability, autonomy, security and comfort. That was 40 years ago, and for the past 20 years, Le Voyageur has carried on that ambition under the ownership of the Pilote Group.

Pilote acquired it at the start of the century, around the same time as the equally upmarket niche brand RMB. The group also owns Frankia and Danbury.

Le Voyageur is particularly well known for its larger, very spacious, liner-style motorhomes, although you can get a Le Voyageur that is less than 7m long. A couple of seasons ago, Le Voyageur became the first A-class manufacturer to produce a motorhome with all-round 360º vision.

Practical Motorhome will be chatting to Martin Storey, UK agent for Pilote & Le Voyageur on Wednesday 14th October at 10am, and throughout the remainder of Van Live!, in the Event Theatre, Hall 6.

You’re in Hall 2 Continental Manufacturers at Van Live! See who else is exhibiting in this hall, or take me to the Show Guide.
