THE BIG NEWS from Bailey this autumn is the launch of the Adamo range of coach built motorhomes, all offering European-style features and design, but retaining the UK-friendly kit and spec that British motorcaravanners desire.

All three models are less than 7.5m in length and have an MTPLM of 3500kg; they’re also based on the Ford Transit, and feature the latest 2.0-litre 160bhp engine with an automatic gearbox.

The Ford Transit base is a departure from Bailey’s usual Peugeot offerings, giving buyers the opportunity to choose something different from the ubiquitous Level group base vehicles.

Three models are available in the new Adamo range. The 69-4 has a spacious transverse rear washroom, facing sofas up front, and an electrically operated drop-down bed over the lounge.

Facing-sofa lounges tend to be more comfortable for relaxing in than dinettes

The Adamo 75-4l is a four-berth with either two or four travel seats, a central kitchen and washroom, and a spacious island bed at the rear.

The Adamo 75-4DL, meanwhile, is a four-berth with an electrically operated drop-down bed over the lounge, central kitchen, and a rear U-shaped lounge, over which drops a second double bed. All three models have a sizeable garage, so you can store outdoor kit and more with ease. Each offers a ‘Flexi-lounge’, with a pair of facing sofas that can be made up into two extra travel seats.

Adamo models have a high level of kit elsewhere: all get Truma Combi space and water heating, an oven and grill, a Truma 100W solar panel, a 142-litre tower fridge, and much more.

Bailey also continues its Autograph and Alliance ranges. Autograph is the brand’s most luxurious line-up, with eight floorpans, from the two-berth 69-2, to the family-orientated six-berth 81-6. MTPLMs are from 3500kg-4250kg.

Alliance Silver Edition, meanwhile, offers six layouts, from two to six berths. Fixed single beds and French beds are among the choices here.

Bailey: A quick history

Bailey’s history is a long and illustrious one, stretching back more than 70 years. It began in 1947, when Martin Bailey built the first Bailey caravan from his garage in Bristol; a year later, FG Bailey Limited was formed.

The company has grown extensively since those early days, moving to its current South Liberty Lane premises in Bristol back in 1960. It was in 1977 that it was purchased by Patrick and Stephen Howard; it remains in the family to this day.

Bailey may have begun by building caravans, but in 2011 it extended its output with its first motorhome, the Approach SE. Since then, the motorhome offering has continued to grow, to include numerous other ranges across a variety of price points. In September 2020, it launched its first Euro-style motorhome range, the Adamo. All of its ‘vans are constructed using the company’s patented Alu-Tech methods, employing a unique interlocking aluminium framework to clamp the body panels together.
