To celebrate National Walking Day, we’re taking a look at some brilliant motorhome sites for walkers to head to, with some exceptional routes on offer at all. After all, one of the great perks of being on tour is the chance to explore some picturesque surroundings and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area.

Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Based in the Northumberland National Park and Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy a tranquil setting and some excellent walks.

Only a 20 minute walk away from Bellingham, you can then head onto the beautiful Hareshaw Linn waterfall. Alternatively, why not take a stroll along the North Tyne riverbank, or discover the wonders of the Kielder Water and Forest Park? Then, in the evening, you can head back to the site and take in the night sky in all its glory.

Lucksall Caravan & Camping Park

Lucksall Caravan & Camping Park

There are some beautiful walking opportunities to explore when you stay at Lucksall Caravan & Camping Park. Based in the Herefordshire countryside, you will have the choice of exploring the 23 acres of immaculate parkland, head to the site’s 90 acre mixed woodland area for a stroll or discover the wonders of the River Wye, ideal for spotting wildlife. It’s also a dog friendly park, with some excellent walking trails along the River for your canine companion to enjoy too.

Matley Wood Campsite

Matley Wood Campsite

If you want to lose yourself in the New Forest, Matley Wood Campsite is the perfect place to head to. From there, you can explore the many ancient trees and forest trails, taking in some beautiful sights as you go. There are an array of paths that head off straight from the campsite, allowing you to quickly immerse yourself in natural beauty. You’ll also have the village of Lyndhurst within walking distance too.

Rye Hill Farm

Rye Hill Farm

This campsite is the perfect spot to head to for if you feel like a break in a secluded spot. The park is near the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), as well as the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park.

The North Pennine Moors AONB are a great destination to head to for some wonderful walks, as is Kielder Forest. There are also numerous places to explore nearby, including Slaley Hall and Hadrian’s Wall.

Breckland Meadows Touring Park

Another site that is full of picturesque landscapes to explore. There is plenty to see in the vicinity of Breckland Meadows, with Thetford Forest nearby. The Forest covers 20,000 hectares and is ideal for enjoying a stroll through some beautiful greenery – who knows, you may even spot a red deer as you walk.

There are also some stunning coastal routes to head to in Norfolk, with wonderful scenery guaranteed if you stay at this adults-only site.

Moss Side Farm

Moss Side Farm

Found in the Lake District, Moss Side Farm is a truly beautiful spot with some wonderful walks to embark on. From the campsite itself, there are several footpaths that lead to various destinations, including Broughton-in-Furness, as well as the next valley along, Broughton Mills.
