The approach of summer presents us with a great chance to jump in our ‘vans and head to some of the best motorhome sites in the country for a spell of rest and relaxation. Baystone Bank Farm Campsite

If a spot of rest and relaxation in the Lake District sounds like your ideal break, this pet-friendly Cumbrian site could be just right for you. To the south of the campsite is Baystone Bank – here, you’ll find beautiful ancient woodland to explore that is home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife.

There are plenty of options for great walking in the surrounding area, too – footpaths run across the farm, while Coniston Water is only 10 miles away, as are some of the smaller tarns, including picturesque Rydal Water.

After a day spent hiking in this truly fabulous scenery, you can then head to one of the nearby pubs in Hallthwaites or Broughton-in-Furness for well-earned refreshments.

Head to Little Trethvas for a beautiful Cornish getaway. Located on the Lizard Peninsula, this dog-friendly site is a great base for enjoying scenic walks to destinations including Kynance and Cadgwith. Alternatively, you could take to two wheels to explore the area, or you might prefer to try your hand at some surfing – there are plenty of excellent beaches to choose from if you want to get out on the water.

Of course, no trip to Cornwall would really be complete without sampling some delicious food; whether you opt for a pasty, fish and chips or a cream tea, there’s lots to enjoy in the area.

At Little Trethvas itself, you will also be able to take in the majesty of the night sky, thanks to the lack of light pollution here – get ready for some spectacularly beautiful views!

The adults-only site at Daisy Bank is located in a truly idyllic seven acres of picturesque Welsh countryside. This dog-friendly site offers five-star facilities, so you (and your pets) can enjoy a break where you fully relax, away from the crowds. There’s plenty to do locally, including golf and fishing – you can then unwind by trying some of the delicious farm produce in the welcoming local pubs and restaurants. There is also stunning countryside to walk in, providing views across unspoilt landscapes.

If you want to head further afield, you’ll find mid-Wales just waiting to be explored, with Aberystwyth, the Cambrian Mountains and Mawddach Estuary all within an hour’s drive.

This very peaceful, pet-friendly site is ideal for taking in the natural beauty of Herefordshire and Wales. Whether you choose to avoid the hustle and bustle by exploring parts of the 150-mile Herefordshire Trail, or take in a bit of history by discovering Croft Castle, there is plenty to do.

If you’re switching to two wheels to explore, the 40-mile Black and White Trail is a circular route that takes you through charming villages and some wonderful landscapes. Keen anglers will also be pleased to hear that site guests can fish the River Dore for free.

Tanner Farm Park

Head to beautiful Kent for a really restful stay at Tanner Farm Park. This pleasant campsite is surrounded by woods, apple orchards and farmland, with some splendid scenery to relax in. The lush green setting offers plenty of excellent walks, through woodland and fields or down by the riverbank.

Opt for the latter route and you might also spot kingfishers or mink, so keep your eyes peeled. The riverside walk is also perfect for anyone who is touring with their pets.
