Verdict
The Wingamm Micros-Plus is well built and easy to handle.
We would have liked to have seen a microwave and aerial included as standard, but quality construction is what accounts for the cost here.
The compact size yet spacious interior make it great for two.
Pros
It’s compact, making it easy to drive, live with and store
Inside and out, it’s a well-built, sophisticated ’van
Cons
No microwave, grill, oven or TV aerial are fitted as standard
Wingamm turns 40 this year, and although the Italian manufacturer has been in the UK for only a few years, it has been exporting for a lot longer.
The company has been using GRP bodyshells for a good while and has become somewhat expert in its application for motorhomes.
The flowing, smooth lines are well executed and mouldings are made to a high standard.
Underfloor heating makes this ’van fine for off-season touring
Living
The lounge includes a height-adjustable table, while the cab seats swivel round to form part of the lounge area. The seats are firm, but comfortable. Our test model had a tartan design with white suede-effect surround.
A large side window allows in natural light, while a large LED striplight is fitted above the window.
There are two deep overhead lockers and storage beneath the seats, where there is also a mains socket.
Most Wingamm Micros-Plus buyers will be couples, and seating two for a meal will be easy, although four could be a little tighter.
You’re going to have to use part of the kitchen worktop, should you want to watch TV (bearing in mind the lack of an aerial), but the lounge does feel spacious.
Kitchen
The large side kitchen has an ample worktop and brilliant cupboard storage for such a compact motorhome, with cupboards and drawers.
There’s also a mains socket here, but there’s no microwave as standard. The large stainless steel sink is covered with a Wingamm-branded wooden chopping board.
You get only a two-burner hob – no grill or oven – but at least there’s a 60-litre Dometic fridge.
A large LED striplight under the kitchen’s overhead locker gives out a very bright light. And while the overhead lockers in the kitchen might be deep, they don’t have any plate or mug racks fitted.
Washroom
The washroom in the Wingamm Micros-Plus is a pleasant surprise. It takes up most of the ’van’s width and offers users a decent-sized washing area.
It has the same style as the rest of the motorhome, so this and the large clear window makes it feel more spacious that it actually is.
The shower, to the left of the entrance as you go in, is separated from the rest of the washroom only by a curtain, instead of doors. All the same, it’s practical and large enough for most to use.
The loo is a Dometic electric flush unit and is placed by the GRP-moulded washbasin, which is sufficiently deep.
There’s storage underneath the basin, but the fold-out mirror above the basin has shelves next to it, and there’s more concealed storage behind it.
LED lights again provide excellent night-time illumination, although including a roof vent for added ventilation and more natural light would have been a good finishing touch.
Beds
The lounge seats can be made up into a double bed, although it’s quite a convoluted business and takes a little learning.
The drop-down double bed is above both the lounge and the kitchen area, and fits neatly back into the roof when not in use.
It does restrict headroom when down, but it is easy to operate and has a memory foam mattress for comfort.
Storage
In addition to the storage already mentioned, the Micros-Plus comes with a good wardrobe that has a slightly curved design, and there are two LED lights above it. It provides good hanging space and there’s a cupboard at its base.
