The aim: to complete the former entry-level range’s realignment to the mid-market.

The 620FB shares one of Europe’s best-selling ’van layouts: rear French-style fixed corner bed, with washroom alongside. Up front are two facing sofas, making this a luxurious two-berth with the capacity to have a couple of visitors stay the night.

The low-line 620FB, on the LWB Ducato, was one of two all-new floorplans among the Swift Group’s radically overhauled Sundance family that was launched to the public at the February 2010 NEC show.

The body improvements to the Sundance are substantial: from the lovely new GRP rear panel, to structural work under the skin, including stronger body panels and an improved jointing system. The low-line mould is all-new, too. It has a gull-wing shape, rising higher to meet the roof and side walls, and rounding toward the nose, and is a vastly more stylish improvement on the flat lines of previous moulds.

On the road, the LWD footprint smoothes out bumps and uneven surfaces. The 100 MultiJet engine allied to a five speed box is adequate, but many people are likely to pay the £1650 upgrade to the 2.3-litre 130 MultiJet version.

Inside, the Sundance has real ‘showroom’ factor. Tanganica walnut furniture is detailed with attractive matt nickel inserts, and the overhead lockers have positive locking push-button catches. There are lots of small standard-fit extras on board, too, that add up to a decent specification for a mid-market motorhome.

The 620FB was runner-up in our Motorhome of the Year 2010 Awards in the ‘Best ‘vans for couples’ category.
