First on Practical Motorhome TV this week, our Editor Niall Hampton gets inside the Bailey Approach Advance 640 – and if you’re making the move from touring caravans to motorhomes, maybe this Peugeot Boxer-based ’van is the one for you. A four-berth with an MTPLM of 3500kg, layout-wise it has a 6ft 3in-long French bed and a parallel lounge. The kitchen is pretty compact but with a fridge, three gas burners and a combined oven and grill, you’ll be able to keep the family fed on tour. Watch to see this motorhome’s corner washroom and what else you get for your £39,795 OTR.
Check out this Bailey and much more in this week’s show when you tune in to Practical Motorhome TV on Showcase, which is on Sky 212 and Freeview 254 (for the latter you’ll need a smart TV), or you can watch live online at:
- 8.30pm on Monday 16 May;
- 5.30pm on Wednesday 18 May;
- 7.30pm on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May 2016.
Watch this episode and you’ll also get more expert advice from our very own Diamond Dave, who this week is talking reversing cameras. He takes us through the different types of cameras and monitors, then shows us the set up in his own motorhome. It’s essential advice for anyone considering fitting one to their ’van.
Then we’re off to Cambridgeshire to look around the family-run Highfield Farm Touring Park. Choose from a grass or a hardstanding pitch, most of which have a 10A electric hook-up, and enjoy the peace of this rural site. Facilities include a motorhome service point, a washroom, an information point and a dog walking area. Tune in and check it out yourself.
After the break, we review a cracking German A-class – and this tag-axle motorhome is also the most expensive ’van we’re testing this series. The Knaus Sun i 900 LEG’s OTR price is a touch over £100,000, so what do you get for your money? Outside, you’ll see the smart LED running lights, snazzy alloy wheels, a roof-mounted satellite dish, coach-style wing mirrors and an integrated service hatch.
The well-specced cab in the Knaus Sun i 900 LEG has a raft of features, including a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a reversing camera, a tablet holder and electrically-operated blinds. The high-spec interior is a very special place to be. The well-appointed kitchen has a three-burner hob, a deep sink, soft-closing cupboards and drawers, a fridge, a freezer, an oven and grill, plus a cocktail cabinet. And if you’re wondering where the TV is, well, you’ll have to watch Practical Motorhome TV to find out!
The split washroom includes a large shower compartment while come night time, retire to the spacious rear bedroom where you’ll find fixed twin single beds, plus an air conditioning unit to keep you cool. Two more people can be accommodated in the pull-down double at the front of the ’van. So, yes, this Knaus does cost a lot, but it’s amazing what you get at this end of the market – you will not want to miss it!
And we’ve a double dose of Diamond Dave in this episode, so watch our show on Sky 212, Freeview 254 or live online to get his advice on fridges. Learn the differences between compressor fridges and three-way fridges, find out how they work and more.
Finally, Practical Motorhome’s Editor Niall returns to test a Marquis dealer special. Based on the Swift Escape, the Swift Lifestyle 622 has a host of extras including a wind-out canopy awning, daytime running lights, a rear view camera and an electric entrance step. This end-lounge two-berth has a well-equipped kitchen, but it’s the spacious, triple-aspect, U-shaped rear lounge that this layout is really about. See it for yourself in this week’s show!
So tune in to Practical Motorhome TV on Sky 212, Freeview 254 or live online – we hope you enjoy watching.
