If you’ve ever fancied upping sticks to drive around the world in your motorhome, then you probably won’t be surprised to know that you’re not the only one.

Amanda and Richard Ligato decided to do it several years ago in a 1978 Volkswagen Westphalia and they’ve provided expensive background information about their adventures across four continents, 24 countries and 60,000 miles online.

The VW Vagabonds site documents both the high and low points of the couple’s journey so far and is a fascinating read. It also explains the problems with shipping a vehicle overseas in a cargo container, which is perhaps one of the bigger disincentives to attempting a trip like this.

The Ligato’s trip ended some time ago, but they published a book in 2005 that documented their adventures and this is now available for the Amazon Kindle, for £5.77.
